Humanoid robot tested in two pig surgeries under remote control

UC San Diego researchers reported on July 8, 2026, that a surgeon remotely controlled a humanoid robot during two gallbladder operations on pigs. The study showed technical feasibility, but human bedside assistance, repeated recalibration and sterility problems remain barriers to clinical use.

Wildfire robot keeps humans at controls as field tests remain absent

California startup Satyress is developing a four-legged, human-torso robot for remote work in wildfires and other hazardous settings. The company puts a human operator and physical shutdown mechanisms at the center of the design, but has published no field-test results or delivery schedule.
