APPI News Editorial is the single byline used across APPI News in English. Every article is published under the team’s name; no individual writers are credited.

What the team does

  • Selecting topics that matter to readers regardless of where they live
  • Editing news, explainers, and features
  • Checking figures, quotations, and technical terms, and citing where they came from
  • Applying editorial standards on subjects that affect readers’ decisions, such as health and medicine

How the articles are made

Articles in APPI News in English start from reporting published by APPI News in Taiwan and are rewritten by the editorial team for readers elsewhere. They are not translations. Where a story rests on Taiwanese institutions, statistics, or reference points, the team either replaces them with sources a reader anywhere can check, or does not run the story.

Because the English edition is not written for any one country, institutions and laws are named together with the country they belong to, and units and reference points are the internationally used ones. Where something is specific to Taiwan and has no equivalent elsewhere, it keeps its own name and the article explains what it does.

Every article links back to the original report.

Editorial standards

Three tests: sources can be traced, the basis for a judgement can be checked, and the risk carried by the reader is stated rather than left out. Headlines do not overstate what was found, and unsettled findings are not written up as conclusions.

On subjects tied to consequential decisions — health and medicine, investing, law — the scope, conditions, limits, and the point at which a reader should consult a professional come first. The team does not write copy guaranteeing the effects of medicines or supplements, and does not recommend particular providers or treatments.

About the byline

APPI News in English has no named subject-matter reviewers. That is a decision not to present work as reviewed when it has not been. Responsibility for the articles rests with the editorial team.

The editing and verification policies are published.
